The annual Chris Salmon Poetry Competition has launched for 2020, and this years' event will be the last one ever.
All entries must be submitted by 16 January 2020.
The theme for the last ever competition will be ‘Freedom’ and there are five different age categories - each carrying cash prizes of £100, £50 and £25 for the best three poems in each, based on winners, runners up, and 'highly commended' categories.
The annual poetry competition began in 2010 as a tribute to former Calday Grammar School student Christopher Salmon who tragically lost his life to a rare streptococcal infection in February 2009, aged just 15. The Christopher Salmon Foundation was set up in 2009 and has so far raised over £53,000 for charity in Christopher’s memory.
While the Chris Salmon Foundation will continue to raise funds, the poetry competition will end after 2020.
